Safety

How StoryWell protects children during every story session.

How does StoryWell prevent unsafe story content?

StoryWell runs multiple safety checks before and after generation, including age-calibrated constraints and moderation before content is shown.

Can scary or violent themes appear by mistake?

Unsafe prompts are redirected to child-safe alternatives, and blocked outputs are regenerated, so unsafe scenes should not reach the child view.

Personalization

How stories adapt to your child and family preferences.

What details can I personalise in a story?

You can personalise your child's name, age-calibrated reading level, story world, and the companions who join the adventure. Every setting shapes the language, complexity, and themes of the generated story.

Will personalisation make every story the same?

No. Personalisation sets the context, while real AI generation creates fresh, unique stories every session. The same settings will produce a different story each time.

Companions

Questions about companion characters in StoryWell adventures.

How many companions can my child have in a story?

Your child can have up to 4 companions per story. Companions are chosen in the story wizard before each session. See the full Companions guide for the available cast.

Can we change companions between stories?

Yes — companions are set per session in the story wizard. Your child can choose a completely different set of companions for every new adventure.

Illustrations

AI-generated imagery and how it is kept safe.

Are the AI-generated illustrations safe for children?

Yes. Every illustration is generated with strict child-safety guardrails: no violence, no adult themes, no realistic human faces, and no scary imagery. The same age-calibrated safety system that governs story text also governs illustrations.

What happens if an illustration takes too long to generate?

A warm placeholder illustration shows immediately so the story never stalls. The full image loads in the background and replaces the placeholder as soon as it is ready — your child can keep reading without waiting.

Narration

Playback and reading experience details.

Can I turn off the read-aloud narration?

Yes. There is a global toggle in Settings → Narration. Turning it off disables read-aloud across all stories — the text remains fully readable without audio.

What voice does StoryWell use? Can I change it?

StoryWell uses your device's built-in text-to-speech voice. You can adjust the speed in Settings → Narration. For more voice options, check your device's accessibility settings.

Library & Saving

How your stories are stored and revisited.

How many stories can we save?

There is no fixed limit — StoryWell saves stories locally on your device using encrypted storage. The only limit is your device's available storage. Stories are never deleted automatically.

How are stories saved?

When your story ends, tap Stage Story to keep it. The full adventure — every chapter and all the illustrations — is saved to your library as a single flowing story. You can re-read it any time, listen with narration, or export it as a PDF.

Account

Managing your account and your data.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. This wipes all local stories and profile data from your device and submits a deletion request to our servers. See the plain-English Privacy guide for full details on what is deleted and when.

What happens to our stories if we uninstall the app?

Stories are stored locally on your device. Uninstalling the app removes all local story data. If you reinstall, you will need to start fresh. We recommend saving screenshots of favourite stories before uninstalling.

How your information is handled.

What child data is stored?

StoryWell stores only what is needed to run and personalise the product, including child profile basics and generated stories. See the full Privacy Policy or the plain-English version.

Can I request data deletion?

Yes. Parents or guardians can request access, correction, or deletion of account and child profile data. Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account, or use the contact page.

Adventure Mode

The longest StoryWell adventure — six choices, around 15 minutes, included with Premium.

What is Adventure mode?

Adventure mode is our longest story format — six pivotal choices across a rich, multi-act adventure of around 15 minutes. It is available as part of StoryWell Premium. You can see it in the mode picker when starting a new story.

How much does Adventure mode cost?

Troubleshooting

Common issues and quick fixes.

The story is not loading. What should I do?

First check your network connection, then retry. If the issue persists, contact support with the time and device details.

I found a content issue. How do I report it?

Use the in-app report option if available or send details through the contact page so the team can investigate quickly.
